Rainbow Mountain by ATV, immersing yourself in the vibrant Andean landscape without the challenges of high altitude. Be one of the first to reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain, guaranteeing you the opportunity to take photos without the crowds.
Starting around 3:40 a.m., your adventure begins with a two-hour bus ride to the village of Pitumarca at 3,600 m.a.s.l., south of the city of Cusco. After a brief stop for breakfast in Pitumarca, continue by bus for another hour and 20 minutes to the starting point of the hike at 6700 meters above sea level for about 30 to 50 minutes. Begin a 45-minute quad bike ride to reach the high point at 5,050 masl, which offers breathtaking views of rainbow hues and snow-capped peaks. Take your time to relax, capture stunning photographs, and savor the splendor of this extraordinary place.
After the quad bike ride, return to the starting point of the trek for another 30 to 50 minutes to board the bus back to the village of Pitumarca and enjoy a satisfying lunch. After lunch, the return trip to Cusco begins, with an estimated arrival time of around 5:00 pm.
Our adventure begins when we pick you up from your hotel around 3:00 - 3:30 a.m. We will then drive south on the Pan-American Highway for an hour and a half until we reach the district of Cusipata, where we will have breakfast. We will then continue our journey for another half hour, passing through Checacupe, Pitumarca, and Hanchipacha, finally arriving at Kayrahuiri around 8:00 a.m. There, we will leave the car and begin a 30 to 50 minute hike before continuing our adventure on ATVs. Before setting off, we will take a 20 minute practice ride.
Then we will continue our ATV route to Rainbow Mountain itself for about 30 minutes, driving slowly uphill (without speeding). Around 9:00 a.m., we will arrive at our destination, Rainbow Mountain, where we will have about 40 minutes to explore and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Upon our return from Rainbow Mountain, we will drive ATVs for another 30 minutes, followed by a 30- to 50-minute walk to the parking lot and board our transportation back to Cusco, ending in the Historic Center.
Note:
Our return trip includes an hour and a half drive back to the district of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at about 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the assigned restaurant. After lunch, we will drive for another hour and a half to Cusco and make our last stop at Plaza Regocijo or Maruri between 4:30 - 5:30 pm, where we will say goodbye.
Extra Option:
We can also offer you the option of riding ATVs to the Red Valley in addition to Rainbow Mountain. This route takes about 45 minutes (a little longer than the classic route), but the scenery is absolutely phenomenal, different, and even more attractive. The walking time will be approximately 30 to 50 minutes (per section). You can choose between the standard route or the Red Valley option, which is truly incredible.
