Day 01: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake
We begin our adventure with an early pickup at 04:30 AM from your respective accommodations or hotels (*Cusco city center) to meet all members of the group and start the journey together with your guide and cook.
We will travel toward the village of Mollepata (2,800 m.a.s.l. / 9,186 ft), passing through towns such as Izcuchaca and Limatambo, arriving around 07:30 AM. Here, we will take a short break where you may enjoy an optional light breakfast.

We then continue for one more hour to Challacancha, the starting point of our hike on the Salkantay Trail, known as the Route of the Gods. At this location, we will meet our support and logistics team, who will prepare the equipment and pack mules. Around 09:30 AM, we begin our hike toward Soraypampa, where our first campsite is located (3,910 m.a.s.l. / 12,828 ft).

The first part of the trek follows an ancient path through deep valleys along the mountainside. Along the way, we will see an old Inca water canal (aqueduct) with cold, crystal-clear water that still supplies nearby communities. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, we arrive at Soraypampa, where we will enjoy lunch and rest.

This area offers plenty of time to relax and take photos of the impressive canyon views, with stunning panoramas of the Salkantay and Humantay glaciers and snow-capped peaks.

In the afternoon, after a short rest, we hike for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to the breathtaking turquoise Humantay Lake (4,210 m.a.s.l. / 13,812 ft). Here, we will enjoy the natural beauty of the area and have an excellent opportunity to take unforgettable photos.

Returning to camp, we will witness a spectacular sunset over the valley, a peaceful moment to connect with nature and oneself. Tea time will be followed by a delicious dinner. At night, weather permitting, we may observe the stars and constellations before resting in our camp under the Andean sky.

๐Ÿ”๏ธMaximum altitude: 4,200 m.a.s.l.

๐ŸMeals: Lunch, Dinner

๐Ÿ•๏ธAccommodation: Camping

Day 02: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Wayraqmachay – Colpapampa
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. We wake up early at 05:00 AM to enjoy a nutritious breakfast before starting the ascent to the highest point of the journey: Salkantay Pass (4,630 m.a.s.l. / 15,190 ft). The hike takes approximately 4 hours, covering 7 km.

From the summit, we will admire breathtaking views of high Andean valleys and the imposing snow-capped mountains of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo. Here, we will perform a traditional Inca ceremony, offering prayers to the Apus (sacred mountains) for protection and a safe journey.

We then descend along a winding, rocky trail to Wayraqmachay (3,800 m.a.s.l. / 12,467 ft), where we will stop for lunch. After a short rest, we continue our trek.

In the afternoon, the landscape gradually changes as we enter the cloud forest, approaching the edge of the Amazon basin. You will notice a dramatic transition from high mountain scenery to lush vegetation, often surrounded by mist, creating an epic atmosphere.

We continue enjoying the rich wildlife until we reach our campsite in Colpapampa (3,910 m.a.s.l. / 12,828 ft). This marks the end of a demanding day, followed by a well-deserved rest and a hearty dinner.

We wake up in the warm and vibrant jungle of Colpapampa, also known as the gateway to the Cloud Forest. After breakfast at 06:00 AM, we begin our hike toward Playa Sahuayaco.

Along the way, we enjoy the rich landscapes of the Andean high jungle, making this part of the journey truly memorable. The valley features sunny weather and dense vegetation, ideal for producing high-quality coffee. We will see orchids, begonias, bromeliads, and various medicinal plants traditionally used in local natural medicine.

We arrive at Playa Sahuayaco (2,064 m.a.s.l. / 6,772 ft), where we enjoy a nutritious lunch and a short rest.

Later, we take local transportation to the Hydroelectric Station (1,890 m.a.s.l. / 6,200 ft). From there, we walk along the railway tracks for approximately 3 hours until reaching Aguas Calientes.
